The renovation tax credit program has been extended until 2019! To claim the tax credit, all renovation work must be done by a qualified contractor under a contract entered before March 31, 2019. Also, all related renovation costs must be paid before January 1, 2019, in order to apply to 2018 taxation year or before January 1, 2020, for the 2019 taxation year.
The tax credit provides a 20% refund of eligible expenditures in excess of $2,500. The maximum tax credit is $10,000.

Conditions: Your future home must meet certain thermal insulation requirements, particularly in terms of air infiltration. Air leakage should not exceed 1.5 air changes per hour, as measured by an infiltrometry test.
